d Therouanne. The reason for England's reasonable status during this period was down to Wolsey's diplomatic skills. In fact so much so that he became what he wanted to become by being a key player in European diplomacy. Wolsey managed to keep a country with a King that had a magnetically drawn mind towards war, away from any serious conflicts for nineteen years. I feel therefore that Wolsey was the main factor influencing foreign policy.
