Beals strongly makes a point to illustrate the negative affects segregation has on a society in hopes that people realize what harm it does. Unfortunately society today has not had that realization with the trend we are following. The understanding of equality can be given by the fathers of our country who define the meaning of the American flag; "...with liberty and justice for all."
