It took so much, a Civil War, 13th and 14th Amendments and numerous other events for that phrase in the Constitution to include all people as a whole. During the 1960s, Civil Rights Movements were staged by people such as Martin Luther King, Jr to help give African Americans the same rights that whites had. Even to this day, there have been numerous advancements made, yet there are many more that need to be achieved.
