Topic: The African American Sermonic Tradition
*My own point of view.
In "Sermons," five different parts of a sermon are presented. All five parts are still followed and seen in our society today. African American sermons are still very emotional and their religious beliefs have not faded. From the time that slavery was part of our history, till the present, African Americans have never stopped believing in God.

for the overall society. Likewise, the Spirituals, although sung, they were songs to praise and worship God and also thank him/her for a better life, meanwhile also asking for help. The only difference amongst the two is that while the time of slavery, Africans were unable to worship God in the way they do now, because they would be punished for it. Even then however, they did not stop believing and worshiping him/her.
