Huck feels freedom when he travels along the river fronteir and Holden feels his freedom by being out on his own away from the falseness of his world. Both boys have emotional scars that have led them to want to escape the lives they were living. In some way, Huck and Holden have escaped, even if it wasn't the way they imagined.
