An individual often pursues either love or money figuring that is the only way to happiness. However, usually, the real path to happiness is through compromise between love and money. It seems that she sees love as a force separate from society because her time period most marriages were conducted solely on the basis of money. Maybe the reason she never married was because she was never able to make the compromise with love and money that was needed for her to have a successful future.
