first the boys have good intentions however because of the inherent evil of the many the
good intentions of the few are quickly passed over for more evil and exciting things. The

and frustration provokes the darkness of man's heart, without any law and
order man will turn into savages. The events throughout the novel show the deterioration
of civilization to savagery. Civilization does maintain control over man but only up to a
certain point. We all have the capability for savagery in us although some of us might
not show it at first. Without a civilization everyone will sooner or later turn in to a
savage.
