For those who never read the poem of Homer the film might seem just a draft of boring primitive mini-series squeezed in a three hour long film. However, knowing the story, the watcher may evaluate and compare his point of view with the author's of the film, but most importantly - may look beyond all failures into the meaning of the telling.
