Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Eisenach, Germany on March 21, 1685. He is considered the greatest composer of the Baroque period. At the age of 10 he was orphaned and taken in by his brother. In his teen years Bach was thought music by his brother. Among the instruments which he played were the harpsichord and clavichord. For the next few years Brahms toured Germany and Switzerland until being appointed a music director of Vienna in 1863. He left the position to tour again and returned to settle in Vienna in 1871. In 1874, Brahms gave up his position in Vienna to devote himself to composing. A large amount of Brahms compositions were mainly for the piano and followed the same tightly knitted classical style.
