The turn of the century could be described as a higher point in Afro-American history, but in no way the lesser of two evils. After Lincoln's 1862 Emancipation Proclamation (and more so the 13th Amendment to the Constitution,) slavery was abolished. Taking a moment to mention WWII, the first half of the twentieth century came to a close. The Reds, the Blues; The Lefts, the Rights. The atom bomb, the space race, the automobile, relativity, industrialization, aviation, television, revolution - all buzzwords for the past 100 years of humanity. A black man couldn't sip coffee with a white man. Hit and miss.
