of Maycomb in many ways. It affects their thoughts, beliefs, values, and lives. Even though the evidence was enough, the jury still found Tom guilty. The jury accepted Mayella's word over Tom's. They did this because in their minds a white woman's word takes over a black man's. It was unfortunate that the people of Maycomb did not realize their unfair treatment of Tom Robinson. A mockingbird was shot and that was truly a sin.
