as they eschewed him. As death was approaching, Hector requested his right of burning and was also denied of this, his basic decency. After Hector's death, Achilles with his immense ruthlessness decided that this wasn't enough. He defiled the body of Hector as a means of disrespect and killing of the soul. Seeing that the gods don't approve of this heinous act, Achilles is once again placing his revenge in front of a higher authority.
