December 7, 1941 It was Sunday, December 7, 1941 in Hawaii. Just like any other Sunday, people did their normal things such as going to church and enjoying the day off from work. The memorial houses a museum with remains from the ship and a room in which the names of the 1,177 men who died on the ship were inscribed including the 58 aboard the USS Utah.
