Before I had taken Holocaust in World Literature, I felt I generally knew about the Holocaust. I knew all the basics, Nazis hated Jews, Jews were massacred, when and where it took place. I even knew a bit of the specifics from watching the History Channel. Before I had taken this class, I felt I knew how to deal with the feeling of sadness I had in regards to the Holocaust.

understanding is how we can truly honor and respect those who have died as well as those who have survived.
Before I had many of my family members, Catholics as well as Jews, asking me why in my right mind was I taking such a depressing class on the Holocaust. I myself didn't really know why. Little did I know I would gain so much from the experience and for that I am truly grateful.
