The book that I chose to read for this assignment was In My Place, by Charlayne Hunter-Gault. This book was written by Charlayne herself and recounts her life year by year until the day she decided to change history. Charlayne went against the law and overcame violence from white supremacists to become the first black woman to attend the University of Georgia. Today, Charlayne's actions still have not been forgotten. She has received many awards and honors for her many accomplishments, especially her book, In My Place. The manner in which the book is written makes the reader feel as if they are walking right beside Charlayne, feeling and experiencing everything that she felt. I fully enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading, especially about civil rights.
