DVD technology now has the potential to store up to 17 gigabytes, as oppose to the 714 megabytes CD's can hold (a gigabyte is 1000 megabytes, so a DVD could hold 18000 mb while a CD could hold 714mb). In a few years DVD technology will most probably have taken over the role of CD's and they will become obsolete.
