the possession of the flag showing courage and accomplishment. "He plunged..other." Henry would also follow the captain's actions because he didn't know any better. He would curse and scream similar to their actions. He didn't know much about war to begin with so he felt that he should follow their actions. This shows an emotional change of Henry throughout the book showing that he was a victim of war.
