The only place where the fish is not disturbed even by Nick who is maybe one of the few people who has learned to appreciate nature and its harmony. However, there are "plenty of days coming when he could fish the swamp"(156). He is the first one who has learned not to take nature for granted, and would probably be the first one to conquer the swamp. The only one who deserves it.
