It would not be considered as the turning point, mainly because the Union would still be in the hands of the Confederate forces. Eventually, the Union would lose to the Confederacy, which would ultimately result in Confederate laws including the continuation of slavery. Luckily, the Union won the Civil War and we became the great country we are today.
