Thousands of investors lost large sums of money and many were wiped out, losing everything.

Also, in this age of instant breakfast, junk food lunches, and quick-heat dinners, families spend far less time with each other whereas, during the Depression, families spent more time together, often gathering after dinner to play some games, or chat.
In Conclusion because of the stretches of years between those periods, family life has changed drastically, both during and after the Great Depression.
