In this essay I would like to explore writers of both Romanticism and Realism including Frederick Douglass (1818?-1895), Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778), Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906) and Anton Chekhov (1860-1904). These authors and poets had to keep up with the changing world. The pace of advancement was very quick and to proceed with these life altering changes authors must portray what is really going on in a society as a whole. This is the natural process of evolution and authors complied with it in their written works.
