Emerson's true intention of Nature
Lightning strikes, tornadoes destroy, rain floods, and earthquakes crumble. These are some of the disastrous, yet beautiful qualities of nature. The fact that natural things that often harm people are never done with cruel intention is the dead on point that Emerson was trying to get across. Thus, if God controls nature, then why would he harm us meaningfully? Therefore, the true reason for the creation of nature is most definitely for our enjoyment and gratification, not pain.
