Many of these questions and objections are honest, but the people who ask them miss the main point: What will be the cost if nothing is done? Is the loss of property and human lives worth less than the cost of reinforcement? Clearly, it is the duty of the city council to the citizens to protect them by passing earthquake laws and making Los Angeles a safer place to live
