At the heart of Anne Sexton's poetry is a search for identity, and her well-known infatuation with death, which is the cause of her rather notorious fame. She obviously did this in her poetry. She felt comfortable letting everything come out on paper because it relieved her depression and anxieties. She had so much character and life which is ironic because she sadly ended it all in a cowardly act of suicide.
