The First World War happened to have also affected the civilians, instead of only the army, in various different ways. It affected in various ways, such as disease, civilians being attacked and the destruction of cities.
The soldiers that fought at the trenches were getting various diseases from the bad water, dead bodies and barbed wire. These diseases (Malaria, Cholera, Tetanus), were spread into the cities and affecting the civilians, making them lose their lives.

cruel, people died during the war; even they didn't know what they were fighting for.
It is easy to reamrk on the simply fact that war was hell in a way never before imagined. However we must never lose sight of the fact that it was the inncent civilians who suffered as well, and that this was the first war where they were targetted and lost more lives than the actual soldiers doing the fighting.
