At the end of the story Mond describes how they had to suppress scientific, technological, and biological progress because of the amount of control that had to be put down upon society to keep there happy and stable society alive. By limiting our progress in the world we our only limiting our own evolution, which is why a technotopian society such as this cannot survive.
