There is no real answer but it conveyed messages, expressed feelings and was a way to relax and have fun. Songs that were developed in early Appalachia history were passed on to children and changed slightly to meet the culture demands. But what we can say today is that the Appalachian people have a rich and unique tapestry of traditions and Appalachian history. Appalachian culture provides a window into the American cultural music experience. (Eller 4)
