Once he escaped from the society and was living independently he was able to understand much more about himself. He gained this knowledge from reading writings of the unmentionable times. He was now fully cognizant of the situation, seeing things from a different perspective. Individualism is for the more responsible and brave, while the weak choose collectivism and altruism, because they depend on others.
