The characters are in fact based on real participants in the Russian Revolution. They have played the ace of spades simultaneously, and accuse each other of cheating. The animals, watching through the window, realizing that they can no longer distinguish which are the pigs and which are the human beings. This shows that Animal Farm has simply once again, become the Manor Farm that use to terrify the animals.
