Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol was a pop artist of the 20th century. He was born to Roman Catholic Czech immigrant parents and grew up near the mills in Pittsburgh PA. About the age of nine he had a nervous breakdown and as he grew older, realized he did not like his appearance. Always fascinated with beauty and stardom, he had cosmetic surgery but to his dismay, it didn't satisfy his physical insecurities.

In the early seventies, he found a renewed interest in painting and completed 50 to 100 commissioned portraits a year. Some of his subjects were Sylvester Stallone, Mick Jagger, and the Shah of Iran. Several years latter, he began to dabble in oxidation painting and using diamond dust. He continued developing his style and reaching out to new horizons until his untimely death in 1987 after gall bladder surgery.
