Eventually, the man falls off the pedestal he was on, and loses faith in his love. However, Hawthorne does an amazing job with the foreshadowing and imagery that captures the reader in the seductive journey of young Goodman Brown. The subtle messages conveyed through the dialogue keep the reader in constant suspense and enthrallment.
