Also, in the alliteration of the hard /d/ sound in "day's disdain" he's showing how these words are said with bitterness and anger. Lastly, it can be seen that this narrator is so tortured and in turmoil that subconsciously he is appealing for death as to "never wake" would essentially be to die.
